Jokes? Yes or No? - #102

& Why become a healer?

Healers Bloom Evolves

Hey there! I'm excited to share that the new newsletter is starting to take on its own unique character, since the first post on Thursday.

So, what exactly is a newsletter, you ask? Well, according to Ken Krell, the wonderful instructor of a recent workshop I attended, a newsletter is all about entertaining its readers. And that's exactly what I want to do with Healers Bloom! Let’s have fun! ✨

My current plan is to focus on a different meaningful theme each month, accompanied by a video and article. I'll also include a variety of other interesting content that I think will appeal to healers and coaches. Stay tuned for exciting updates!

What would be interesting to YOU?? Please let me know. 😉

Please share Healers Bloom with your friends!

My history with Jokes

Normally, I’m not a fan, because I think there’s an expectation that they will be funny. Yet I rarely experience them as amusing. The punch line lands, and perhaps I get it. It’s like, “Uhh, O-kkaaayy.” Even worse, there’s not much more pathetic than a joke whose punch line needs to be explained.

When I’m in town, I attend a networking meeting in Olympia, Washington. Parker’s a friend, whose name has been changed to protect the innocent. Invariably he tells jokes and the entire room groans. “O-kkaaayy.” But really, I know that’s his shtick.

A lot of comedy is in poor taste. Because the jokes are mean, cruel or insulting, clearly at the expense of some group or class of people. My stomach grips when people laugh at hurtful intentions, disguised as ‘jokes.’

I’ve gone to exactly one comedy show, a charity social event. I wish I remembered the comedian’s name. She was hilarious! I laughed the entire show, breathless and with aching ribs.

So do you want jokes here? Thanks. Sandra

Why become a healer?

Perfectionism & Your Business ~ May’s Theme

Why did I choose to become a healer? Frequently this comes up in healing sessions for practitioners and coaches of all kinds.

The need to prove myself and feelings of not being good enough are compelling factors. Many of my strengths, such as caring for others and doing things well, stem from childhood challenges.

In sessions with clients, recognizing their 'survival strategies' as strengths is an empowering aspect of the healing journey.

Perfectionism has positive aspects. Read more about this in the ChatGPT trivia below.

Watch this week's video for healing with the Make Anything Possible Method.

Kathy Muzik, Productivity Coach

Productivity is a popular word these days.

For some, it conjures visions of widgets on an assembly line. In a broader sense, it refers to our work habits, level of organization (or disorganization), and, quite often, our feelings of increasing overwhelm. And the constant pursuit of getting more things done often comes with a large side dish of stress and anxiety

Under the pressure to be hyper-productive, we spend our day immersed in one task after another. We appear busy as we diligently work on multiple things, checking them off our to-do list. However, when it's time for a crucial meeting, chaos ensues. Disorganization and procrastination rear their heads, and we find ourselves unprepared, scrambling to locate essential information.

This scenario vividly illustrates the busyness trap—a state where the appearance of productivity masks the lack of meaningful progress. The relentless focus on staying busy can lead to a false sense of accomplishment. Yet, the disconnect between busyness and actual productivity becomes glaringly evident when it's crunch time.

Let's explore how mindful productivity can provide the antidote to the busyness trap and help us take a more balanced and fulfilling approach to work. …

Trivia

Here are trivia bits about Perfectionism. Thanks ChatGPT!

  1. Positive and Negative Aspects: While perfectionism can drive individuals to achieve great things, it's also associated with negative outcomes such as anxiety, depression, and even procrastination due to fear of failure.

  2. Treatment: Perfectionism can be addressed through various therapeutic approaches, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), which helps individuals challenge and modify their perfectionistic beliefs and behaviors.

Sandra’s notes: Perfectionism comes up frequently, both personally, and in healing sessions with my clients. (Watch the video above for an experience of that healing.)

My perfectionism originated with childhood events with my mother. All things considered, she was a good mom. And she had high expectations. (This touches on my sharing in last week’s newsletter about how I parented my son.)

Many of the things I am REALLY good at developed in response to these childhood challenges. Taking care of people, helping people, doing things well. These are positive facets of perfectionism.

And perfectionism contributes to fear, obsessiveness, and numerous aspects of life.

Fortunately, healing is available. I am so much more relaxed, and continually improve in managing perfectionist tendencies. And I help my clients achieve similar gains, so they can be more successful and happy in life and business. 🌟
