Relaxed Perfectionism

Welcome to Healers Bloom!

Woohoo!! You are reading my brand new newsletter! If you’ve received my weekly email newsletter in the past, this is different from the ‘old’ model.

What’s a Newsletter? According to Ken Krell, the instructor of my workshop, apparently the purpose of a newsletter is primarily entertainment. Let’s make Healers Bloom more entertaining than my weekly emails have been. ✨

The old fashioned email newsletter evolves to become a publication. Ooh!

If you’re reading this, and it’s not in your email Inbox, then please Subscribe!! Go here.

Now, … let’s continue the Perfectionism theme I began last week, in a fun new way. 🌟

Joke 🤣

How many perfectionists does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

See the answer at the bottom. 👇

The Newsletter Challenge

Taking classes, I learn all sorts of things. Figuring out how to do something ‘old’ in new and different ways definitely stimulates the brain and nervous system.

I’m in a 5-Day Launch Your Newsletter Challenge. This triggered a migration to Beehiiv, a platform exclusively dedicated to Newsletters. Voilá, Healers Bloom is born.

This month my brain’s overdosing on learning-juice, because I’m in several training programs. Whew.

The Challenge expects this inaugural post to publish Thursday, instead of my regular Monday. Soooo, my weekly video blog is not quite ready.

Oh, I’m also changing the day that the weekly newsletter releases. Apparently Tuesday is better than Monday, because people have email overload to clear out at the beginning of the week.

It being a Thursday, you can see this first Healers Bloom as a bonus. 😆

Perfectionism & Your Business ~ May’s Theme

So let’s get back to discussing perfectionism. The ‘Part’ of me that feels compelled to make things look a certain way gets a little freaked out when the pieces escape my grasp. Using anything ‘new’ brings learning and experimentation.

Over the past many years of healing, perfectionism’s grip upon me has softened. And I still prefer when things go MY way. 😉

With learning Beehiiv, I’m definitely relaxing the perfectionism.

Here are trivia bits about Perfectionism. Thanks ChatGPT!

  1. Origins: The term "perfectionism" has its roots in the Latin word "perfectio," meaning completion or perfection.

  2. Historical Context: The concept of perfectionism has been discussed by various philosophers throughout history, including Aristotle, who considered it a virtue to be pursued in moderation.

  3. Psychological Concept: Perfectionism is often divided into three types: self-oriented perfectionism (setting high standards for oneself), other-oriented perfectionism (setting high standards for others), and socially prescribed perfectionism (believing that others expect perfection from oneself).

Here’s what I think about bit #3. My entire life, I’ve dealt with self-oriented perfectionism. Fortunately, learning to manage it gets more successful over time. The Make Anything Possible Method has definitely assisted in this softening of expectations. Thank goodness for that!

I’m also guilty of expecting perfection of others. I remember when my son was young, a part of me expected him to behave like an adult. I vividly see in my mind’s eye a day when he was 4 years old. I was conscious of having absolutely unreasonable expectations of him, yet I could not stop myself from demanding compliant behavior. I battled myself, feeling like I lost. And my innocent son paid the price. 💖🙏

Fortunately, he turned out and is happy and productive now. 🌟

"Great topic! I love the book The Perfectionist's Guide to Losing Control. It has a great spin on the idea to make it so perfectionism can be healthy or unhealthy."

Hey Sofia, you don’t know it yet, but I’m inviting you to contribute to Healers Bloom News whenever you like! 😉

I’ve considered getting rid of this feature of the newsletter. But I think it contributes to entertainment, while also potentially providing some value.

I was so busy last weekend that I forgot to send last week’s picture of my friend Bradford Tilden and myself eating Chinese food in Enumclaw, WA.

Why was someone from Connecticut in Enumclaw? We had a fabulous talk about Universal White Time Gemstone Healing and a Sound Healing at The Magickal Earth, a wonderful store in Enumclaw.

Between Penticton, BC and Enumclaw, WA, we have Universal White Time Gemstone and Energy Healing classes scheduled in April 2025!

Contact Bradford Tilden, if you’re interested.

Sandra's last words.

How many perfectionists does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

Just one, but it has to be the perfect wattage, in the perfect fixture, with the perfect ambiance.
